Merry Samhain to you, and welcome to issue #21 of my newsletter, e-mailed to subscribers on Samhain 2016.
A Book Is Born
The Longest Road in the Universe: A Collection of Fantastical Tales is now in print! I'm so proud of this book, and I'm equally proud of Nancy Farmer's cover art and Kimberly Mayfield's cover design. I hope you enjoy reading these tales as much as I enjoyed writing them. Here's where you can buy the collection:

D Is for Duel / One Who Dies as a God Dies
The next installment of the Alphabet Anthologies, D Is for Dinosaur, is in process. Rhonda Parrish has my story in hand, and it's waiting now to be sent out into the world. So I thought I'd offer another morsel of "D is for Duel/One Who Dies as a God Dies" for you to chew on in the meantime. Here you go:
An eagle knight swoops in, lands on the summit, folds dun wings. White plumed head, eyes of black and gold, his humanity is a vestigial thing, an appendix that no longer serves any purpose.
"This is Aeton, who came from Olympus on Aphrodite Terra, Venus." The Speaker gestures at the knight, who bows low, wingtips brushing a pool of chlorophyl. "Vasiliás Ares gave him to me. Do you know who that is?"
"The warrior king of the inner planets." It is not possible to stand unmoved so near an eagle knight. Alejandra's heart beats like a frightened rabbit's, and still she longs to touch his feathers.
"Said I like killing too much." Aeton's words are guttural, slurred, punctuated by the click of a yellow beak. "Not true. Just don't like anything else."

Closing Thoughts
Because I'm presently working on a PhD, I likely won't have as much writing news for a while, though I do plan to let you know about any academic news of note. So I'm scaling back the newsletter to Beltane and Samhain with the possibility of an occasional special edition.
As always, thank you for reading, and I'll be back on Beltane!
Cheers,
Ceallaigh
