Two great pieces of news have found their way to me in the last couple of days:

  1. Vincent Chong has been nominated for a British Science Fiction Award in the Best Artwork category for the cover of Murky Depths Issue #4, which includes the story "Casting Sin" by yours truly. Sure, *I* wasn't nominated, but I'm thrilled for Chong.
  2. I'm on the cover of Murky Depths Issue #7, which includes my epistolary story "The Longest Road in the Universe." This is my first appearance on a magazine cover, and what an outstanding cover to appear on!

Mike Allen has just learned that Gardner Dozois reviewed Clockwork Phoenix: Tales of Beauty and Strangeness in the December issue of Locus, giving it the same treatment he gave it a few months ago in The Best New Stories Of 2008. While "Akhila, Divided" wasn't a favorite, Dozois did mention my name in association with others who had written solid SF stories in the anthology, and coming from the Caesar himself, that's praise I can live with.

To my knowledge, this will be the first mention of my name as an author in Locus, which is another thing to be glad about.

Clockwork Phoenix: Tales of Beauty and Strangeness, which includes my dark science fantasy story "Akhila, Divided," has made the Locus 'New and Notable' list. I continue to be so proud of this anthology and of the inclusion of "Akhila, Divided" in it.

Good on ye, little story. Good on ye.
